Shane Lowry surprised everyone in 2019 by winning the Open at Royal Portrush after struggling with four missed cuts leading up to the tournament. He outperformed Tommy Fleetwood by six strokes in the first Open held in Northern Ireland in 68 years. Lowry’s exceptional performance was credited to his choice of clubs, as detailed in his bag for the tournament. He used a Srixon Z 585 driver, a Mitsubishi Diamana D+ 70 X shaft, a TaylorMade M4 3-wood with a Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 X shaft, and a set of Srixon irons with Mitsubishi Tensei CK Pro White Hybrid TX and KBS Tour 130 X shafts.

Lowry also carried Cleveland RTX 4 wedges with KBS Tour Wedge X shafts, an Odyssey Stroke Lab Exo 2-Ball putter with a SuperStroke Traxion Pistol GT 1.0 grip, and played with a Srixon Z-Star XV golf ball. His clubs were customized to his preferences, including a unique shamrock grip on his putter. More photos of Lowry’s clubs can be found on the 2nd Swing Golf website, which offers a wide selection of new and pre-owned golf clubs both in-store and online. Lowry’s victory at Royal Portrush showcased the importance of having the right equipment for success on the golf course.

Golf enthusiasts can replicate Lowry’s equipment choices to improve their performance on the course. Investing in high-quality clubs such as the Srixon Z 585 driver and the TaylorMade M4 3-wood can make a significant difference in one’s game. The selection of shafts, such as the Mitsubishi Diamana D+ 70 X and the Graphite Design Tour AD DI 8 X, can also impact the distance and accuracy of shots. Similarly, using wedges like the Cleveland RTX 4 with KBS Tour Wedge X shafts can help players navigate challenging course conditions and make precise shots around the green.

Lowry’s choice of putter, the Odyssey Stroke Lab Exo 2-Ball, along with the SuperStroke Traxion Pistol GT 1.0 grip, highlights the importance of having a reliable tool for putting. The Srixon Z-Star XV golf ball was also crucial in Lowry’s success, as the right ball can affect spin, distance, and control on the course. By paying attention to every detail of his equipment, Lowry was able to elevate his game and secure a memorable victory at the Open. Following in his footsteps and adopting a similar setup could lead to improvements in one’s own golf game.

2nd Swing Golf, where Lowry’s clubs can be found, offers a wide range of options for golfers looking to upgrade their equipment. With over 100,000 new and pre-owned clubs available, players can find the perfect fit for their game.
