Yubin Jang, the top-ranked Korean golfer, recently signed a multi-year deal with the LIV Golf League after withdrawing from the final stage of the PGA Tour Q-School. Yang, who was ranked second at TPC Sawgrass’s Dye’s Valley Course, decided to join Kevin Na’s Iron Heads GC in the PIF-backed league. Despite Yang’s withdrawal from the PGA Tour qualifying event, he was set to play alongside top players from the PGA Tour Americas and Japan Golf Tour. Having won the Korean Tour’s money list and Player of the Year in 2024, Yang is considered a rising star in the golf world. He has also represented South Korea in international competitions and is exempt from mandatory military service.

Yubin Jang turned professional in late 2023 and has already secured three wins on the Korean Tour. His impressive performances attracted the attention of LIV Golf, making him the first South Korean to compete in the league. Jang’s decision to join LIV Golf was influenced by playing with Kevin Na at the Asian Tour’s Saudi International. Na praised Jang’s talent and potential, stating that he is a valuable addition to the Iron Heads team. Along with Na, Jang will be teammates with Danny Lee and Jinichiro Kozuma in the upcoming LIV Golf season.

The upcoming LIV Golf season kicks off in Riyadh in February 2025 and will feature a new event in Korea at the Jack Nicklaus Golf Club in May. Iron Heads GM Martin Kim expressed excitement about the team’s lineup, which includes the re-signing of Danny Lee and Jinichiro Kozuma. With the addition of Yubin Jang, Iron Heads aims to become a strong contender in every event. The team’s diverse roster includes players from South Korea and Japan, highlighting the global reach of LIV Golf.

Yubin Jang’s signing with the LIV Golf League signifies a significant milestone for Korean golf and provides young Korean players with a clear path to compete at the highest level. Kevin Na believes that Jang’s inclusion will elevate the team and push the veterans to perform at their best. With the growing popularity of golf in Korea, Jang’s participation in the league adds excitement and potential for the team to excel in the upcoming season. Iron Heads is gearing up for a competitive season with a mix of experienced players and emerging talents like Jang.

The LIV Golf League is set to showcase top talent from around the world, including rising stars like Yubin Jang. As the league expands to new locations and attracts a diverse set of players, the competition is expected to be fierce. With the support of sponsors and the backing of experienced professionals like Kevin Na, young players like Jang have the opportunity to make a name for themselves on the international stage. The future looks bright for golf in Korea, with promising talents like Jang leading the way in global competition.
