The Ascendant at TPC Colorado is an annual professional golf event that has become a popular tradition in Colorado. This year marks the sixth edition of the Korn Ferry Tour event, which was named Korn Ferry Tournament of the Year in 2023 for the second time in three years. The tournament is a crucial stop on the tour calendar, as top golfers aim to secure a top-30 finish in the season standings to earn their PGA Tour card.

The TPC Colorado at Heron Lakes course is known for its prodigious length, with the tournament tees stretching up to 8,029 yards. The course features the challenging 773-yard par-5 13th hole, which is nearly impossible to reach in two shots. TPC Colorado combines elements of American and European links golf, with deep pot bunkers, scenic holes lined by lakes, and Rocky Mountain vistas in the distance.

Several notable players to watch at TPC Colorado include Colorado connections like AJ Ott, Jeremy Paul, Kyle Westmoreland, and Sam Saunders, as well as former Ascendant champions like Nelson Ledesma and Tag Ridings. Golfers with a track record of success at the tournament include Tim Widing, Quade Cummins, Frankie Capan III, Jackson Suber, and Isaiah Salinda.

The tournament schedule includes four 18-hole rounds from July 11-14, with the field of 156 players being cut to the low 65 scores for the final two rounds on the weekend. The prize purse for the 2024 edition is $1 million, with the winner set to earn $180,000. Past winners of The Ascendant at TPC Colorado have all gone on to achieve success on the PGA Tour, with notable players like Will Zalatoris and Nicholas Lindheim making waves in the golf world.

The Ascendant at TPC Colorado has a history of close finishes, with champions winning by just one or two strokes in each edition of the tournament. The event has also seen scoring records set or matched in all five years of its existence. The tournament has established itself as a platform for up-and-coming golfers to showcase their skills and earn a spot on the PGA Tour. With a strong field of competitors and a challenging course, The Ascendant at TPC Colorado promises to be an exciting and competitive event for golf fans to enjoy.
