Lauren Cupp, the men’s and women’s golf coach at Hamilton College in New York, is not only a world record holder and the best female speedgolfer in the world, but she also co-owns Rome Country Club with her husband Wes and has three children. Despite her busy schedule coaching, being a parent, and managing the golf club, Cupp finds time to pursue her passion for speedgolf, a sport that combines golf and running.

Speedgolf is a scoring system that combines the number of strokes taken with the time elapsed from the first tee shot to the final putt. Cupp got into speedgolf when her daughter was born, and she found herself with limited time for traditional golf. Starting with nine holes and a jogging stroller, Cupp gradually became hooked on the sport and eventually became the top-ranked female speedgolfer in the world.

Cupp has achieved remarkable feats in speedgolf, including holding the world record for shooting a 1-under 72 in just 50 minutes and 48 seconds at Teugega Country Club. She recently won the U.S. Speedgolf Open, a 54-hole event hosted by her and her husband at Rome Country Club. Cupp typically carries a set of five clubs in a lightweight Sunday bag, but she is considering switching to a silo golf club carrier for the upcoming World Speedgolf Championships in Tokyo.

Despite her success and fame in the world of speedgolf, Cupp remains grounded and committed to her coaching role at Hamilton College. She started the women’s golf team at the school and has built it into a top-25 program. Cupp’s athletes have even taken up speedgolf, finding value in the fast-paced, creative, and athletic nature of the sport. Cupp believes that speedgolf has made her a better golfer and that there’s something to be said about just focusing on being an athlete and getting the ball in the hole in the fewest shots.

Cupp’s dedication to speedgolf has allowed her to connect with people from all over the world and promote the sport on a global scale. While speedgolf may not be as popular in the United States as in countries like Japan, where Cupp competes in the Speedgolf World Championships, she remains a passionate advocate for the sport. Her ability to balance her roles as a coach, parent, and speedgolf champion is a testament to her drive and determination.

In conclusion, Lauren Cupp’s journey as a speedgolf champion, golf coach, business owner, and mother exemplifies her commitment to her passions and her ability to excel in multiple facets of her life. With a relentless work ethic and a love for the game of golf, Cupp continues to push the boundaries of what is possible in speedgolf while inspiring others to pursue their dreams and embrace new challenges.
