LIV Golf Riyadh to be Held “Under the Lights” Following Fox TV Partnership

The 2025 LIV Golf League season will kick off with the LIV Golf Riyadh event at the Riyadh Golf Club next month. Scheduled between February 6-8, this 54-hole circuit will mark the beginning of the season and will be broadcasted by Fox Sports under a new TV-rights agreement. In an effort to accommodate a US audience, the tournament will have a later start time, with the opening round beginning at 6:15pm local time (10:15am ET/3:15pm GMT) on Thursday, February 6.

The decision to have a later start time for the tournament not only benefits the US audience but also avoids competition with other main tours that week. The PGA Tour’s WM Phoenix Open mostly takes place in the afternoon, after the LIV Golf Riyadh event is finished, while the DP World Tour’s Commercial Bank Qatar Masters is scheduled for the middle of the night in US time. Riyadh Golf Club has powerful lighting throughout its course to accommodate night golf, which has become increasingly popular in recent years.

Bryson DeChambeau and Brooks Koepka, who recently competed in The Showdown at Shadow Creek Golf Club in Las Vegas, will be looking for a better performance at the LIV Golf Riyadh event. The PIF-backed tour offers two trophies for the winners, and both players will be aiming for a victory in Saudi Arabia’s capital. While LIV Golf Riyadh is not the first pro golf event to take place at night, with previous exhibition contests like The Match, it continues to showcase the growing trend of night golf.

The Ladies European Tour’s Omega Dubai Moonlight Classic, held between 2019 and 2021, is another example of professional golf events taking place at night. As the sport continues to evolve and adapt to changing viewer preferences, night golf events offer a unique and exciting experience for players and audiences alike. With the advancement of technology and infrastructure like powerful lighting at courses, night golf has become a viable option for tournaments around the world.

As LIV Golf Riyadh prepares to kick off the 2025 season, golf fans can look forward to an innovative and exciting event that incorporates the trend of night golf. With top players like DeChambeau and Koepka competing for victory under the lights, the tournament promises to be a thrilling showcase of talent and skill. Stay tuned for updates and coverage of the LIV Golf Riyadh event as the season officially begins next month.
