In 2023, Lilia Vu had a successful season with four wins, two of which were major championships. However, in the current LPGA season, Vu has been struggling with back issues, limiting her to only seven starts. Due to her ongoing injury, Vu will miss out on competing in the upcoming U.S. Women’s Open at Lancaster Country Club, being replaced by Yealimi Noh.

This will mark the second consecutive major championship that Vu will miss, as she previously withdrew from defending her title at the Chevron Championship in April. Her last appearance was at the Ford Championship in late March, and she has missed out on five potential starts since then. Despite these setbacks, Vu made quite an impact in 2023, winning her first major title at the Chevron Championship and later securing another victory at the AIG Women’s Open with impressive performances.

During her successful season in 2023, Vu spent a total of 28 weeks as the top-ranked player in the Rolex Women’s World Rankings. Currently, she holds the No. 2 spot, just behind Nelly Korda. Yealimi Noh, who is ranked 146th in the world, qualified as the second alternate for the U.S. Women’s Open by shooting 69-73 in the qualifiers at Rainier Golf and Country Club in Seattle, Washington. The USGA decided to reward a fourth qualifying spot due to the strength of the field in Seattle.

Despite facing ongoing challenges with her back issues, Lilia Vu remains a prominent figure in the world of women’s professional golf, with her impressive record of victories and top rankings. While she may miss out on certain events due to her injury, her resilience and determination to overcome obstacles continue to inspire fans and fellow athletes alike. As she continues her journey in the LPGA, Vu’s talent and dedication will undoubtedly lead to many more successful seasons in the future.
