Lydia Ko gets emotional in booth while watching LPGA Hall of Fame tribute video

Lydia Ko was overcome with emotion as she was welcomed into the LPGA Hall of Fame during The Annika driven by Gainbridge at Pelican tournament. This momentous occasion was marked by tributes from legendary players like Pat Bradley and Meg Mallon, as well as heartfelt words from her older sister Sura. Ko expressed her gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing the importance of the relationships she has built in the golf world. She reflected on the significance of these connections, stating that they will stay with her forever.

At just 27 years old, Ko achieved the 27 points needed to qualify for the LPGA Hall of Fame after winning the AIG Women’s British Open at St. Andrews. This victory marked her 22nd career LPGA title, solidifying her status as one of the top players in the sport. Ko’s induction into the Hall of Fame makes her the 35th player to receive this honor and the 25th player to earn the required points. Additionally, nine women were inducted as honorary members, including LPGA founders and entertainer Dinah Shore.

As the youngest player to meet the current criteria for entry into the LPGA Hall of Fame, Ko continues to make history in the golf world. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunities golf has provided her, not only in terms of achievements but also in the relationships she has formed along the way. Ko credited golf for strengthening the bond between herself and her husband, highlighting the unique power of the sport to bring people together.

Looking ahead to the future, Ko expressed excitement about continuing to give her best effort on the course. She acknowledged that her time in professional golf may be approaching its end but emphasized her commitment to giving her all until the very last moment.
