Nelly Korda, the World No.1 golfer, recently reflected on her performance at the AIG Women’s Open where she narrowly missed out on claiming her third Major title. Two crucial moments during the tournament cost her the victory, including a costly double bogey on the 14th hole when her chip shot failed to make it up the bank of the green. Despite needing an eagle on the 18th to force a playoff with Lydia Ko, Korda could only manage a par, falling two shots short of the win.

The errors on the 14th hole were not the only setbacks for Korda during the tournament. She also struggled during the third round, with three bogeys and a double bogey on the 16th hole. Despite these challenges, Korda remained positive about her performance, noting that she played well overall and fought until the end. She expressed confidence in her ability to bounce back from these setbacks and perform well in future events.

Korda had a strong start to the 2024 season, winning six of her first eight tournaments, including the Chevron Championship. However, she faced difficulties after the US Women’s Open in June, where she missed the cut. The AIG Women’s Open in Scotland provided Korda with an opportunity to regain momentum and she feels optimistic that her performance at the tournament is a positive sign for her game moving forward.

One aspect of Korda’s game that stood out during the AIG Women’s Open was her putting performance. She made a putter switch before the tournament and was pleased with the results, noting that she made some good putts and overall putted well throughout the week. Additionally, Korda highlighted her strong ball-striking abilities in challenging conditions, showcasing her well-rounded skills on the course.

Following the AIG Women’s Open, Korda will not be participating in the FM Championship on the LPGA Tour. Instead, she will be preparing for her fourth appearance at the Solheim Cup, which is scheduled to take place between September 13 and 15. Korda finished at the top of the US points list, earning her a spot on the team for the prestigious event, where she will compete against top players from Europe.

In conclusion, Nelly Korda’s performance at the AIG Women’s Open showcased her resilience and determination on the course. Despite facing challenges during the tournament, including critical mistakes on key holes, Korda remained positive and focused on the improvements in her game. With her strong putting performance and continued commitment to her game, Korda is poised to bounce back from setbacks and achieve success in future events, including the upcoming Solheim Cup. Golf fans can look forward to seeing Korda bring her competitive spirit and skill to the course as she continues to strive for greatness in the world of golf.
