Puma files lawsuit against Tiger Woods’ Sunday Red logo

Tiger Woods is facing some legal hurdles in trademarking his new brand Sun Day Red, as Puma has filed an opposition notice over the logo due to its resemblance to the company’s Leaping Cat logo. This comes after Sun Day Red was already facing legal issues with another company, Tigeraire, over similarities with its logo. Puma’s filing cites “confusing similarity of the marks” and the likelihood of consumer confusion between the two logos.

Tiger Woods launched his Sun Day Red brand last February after parting ways with Nike, and the logo features a tiger design with 15 lines representing his 15 Major championship victories. Despite facing legal challenges, TaylorMade, the company associated with Sun Day Red, remains confident in their trademarks and logos. Woods has also taken legal action against Tigeraire over the logo dispute, further complicating matters for his new brand.

Puma’s involvement in the legal battle adds another layer of complexity for Woods and Sun Day Red, as the sporting giant’s longstanding use of the Leaping Cat logo raises concerns of trademark infringement. Woods’s brand has been making strides in the sportswear scene, but these legal challenges may hinder its success and impact its growth in the market. It remains to be seen how Woods and TaylorMade will navigate these legal obstacles and protect their brand’s identity.

The legal disputes surrounding Sun Day Red highlight the challenges that come with launching a new brand in a competitive market, especially for a high-profile figure like Tiger Woods. The trademark issues with both Puma and Tigeraire could potentially harm the brand’s reputation and affect its marketability. Woods’s decision to sue Tigeraire and now facing opposition from Puma could have far-reaching consequences for Sun Day Red’s future success in the industry.

Despite the legal setbacks, Woods continues to promote his Sun Day Red brand, recently sporting the logo during the launch of the TGL hi-tech golf league. His partnership with Rory McIlroy in this venture demonstrates his commitment to expanding his brand’s reach and influence in the sports world. As he navigates these legal challenges, Woods remains focused on building a successful brand that reflects his legacy in the sport of golf. With the support of TaylorMade and his team, he is determined to overcome these obstacles and establish Sun Day Red as a prominent player in the sportswear market.
