Review of Avoda Irons: Uncovering Their Origin and Performance

Avoda Golf gained attention during the 2024 Masters when Bryson DeChambeau used their 3D printed, one-length, curved face set and started the tournament with a 7 under par 65. Since then, the company has been producing products for the retail market. In this review, we will take a closer look at the Origin single length iron to see how it compares to other top irons in the game.

The technology behind the Origin irons is impressive, with precision-crafted heads made from premium carbon steel forgings. The small muscle cavity helps place weight and CG strategically, and the manufacturing process ensures that all heads in the set are exactly the same weight. The flat, 4mm topline and subtle offset of 0.5mm may appeal more to better players than high handicappers.

The minimalist design of the Origin irons is visually appealing, with a matte satin chrome finish giving a premium feel to the set. While the longer irons have a stunning visual appeal with little offset, the shorter irons may not be as visually appealing due to a slightly higher heel transition. Overall, the set has a sleek and modern look that will appeal to many golfers.

During testing, the reviewer found the longer irons to be fantastic for swing dynamics, producing strong, penetrating shots. The shorter shaft length and strong base lofts helped bring down the ball flight for a more controlled shot. The shorter irons were also easy to adjust to, with a soft feel that made them enjoyable to play.

In terms of performance, the middle irons of the set were comparable to the reviewer’s current gamer set, but there were noticeable differences in the top and bottom of the set. The shaft length affected ball flight, with the shorter irons producing higher shots due to increased swing speed. The narrow soles of the irons worked well on a seaside links course, providing a great feel and performance.

The Origin irons are available in both chrome and black finishes, with prices starting at £1229/$1379 for a 4-PW set or £1749/$1955 for a 4-LW set. For golfers interested in the single-length concept, Avoda Golf offers combo length sets as well. Overall, the Origin irons are a great option for those looking for something different in their irons, with impressive technology, design, and performance.
