The PXG 0311 P GEN7 irons are designed to provide high performance for low to mid handicap golfers, offering both soft feel and a rewarding sound. With innovative technology and sleek aesthetics, these irons stand out in the players distance category.

During a fitting session at Scottsdale National Golf Club, the author was impressed with the immediate results of the PXG 0311 P GEN7 irons. The following day, a detailed look at the design and testing process at the PXG R&D Center further showcased the depth of knowledge and expertise of the PXG team.

The GEN7 irons boast a refined elegance with a slim topline, slight offset, and midsize head at address. The matte finish of the hitting area and white bottom groove aid in alignment, while the titanium weight screw adds a futuristic touch to the overall design.

Despite the soft feel of the PXG 0311 P GEN7 irons, the impact sound is crisp and rewarding. The combination of the ultra-thin face, proprietary polymer fill, and high MOI results in consistent performance and gentle tactile feedback during each swing.

The distance boost of the GEN7 irons is attributed to the thinner face and QuantumCOR polymer fill, which push the coefficient of restitution to the USGA limit. With a MPH increase in ball speed over the GEN6, the PXG data shows a significant improvement in total distance with the GEN7 irons.

To enhance forgiveness, PXG repositioned mass in the 0311 P GEN7 irons, utilizing a titanium insert and 20-gram tungsten weight in the toe. The increased MOI on both horizontal and vertical axes improves forgiveness on off-center hits, resulting in a tighter dispersion area for low to mid handicap golfers.

The author experienced a significant improvement in consistency and performance with the PXG 0311 P GEN7 irons, leading to a lowered handicap and their immediate inclusion in the bag. With advanced technology and materials, PXG has created a standout option in the players distance category that is worth considering for anyone in the market for high-performing irons.
