Review of Ram Axial Forged Irons

Ram has introduced the new Axial Forged irons, offering skilled ball strikers a great set at a very affordable price. The irons have strong-traditional lofts, provide added help for thin strikes, and offer plenty of shot control. The clean, premium look of the irons in the bag belies their affordability, with discreet mill marks in the cavity and minimal Ram branding.

At address, the Ram Axial Forged irons have a players look with medium-thin top lines and below average offset. The blade length is average for a players iron, providing a little confidence at address. The shape of the face becomes more rounded as the loft increases, with the leading edge remaining straight. The irons reward premium strikes with a clear, crisp “click” that indicates quality swing, and mishits are also clearly audible but don’t sting or firm up.

Performance-wise, the Ram Axial Forged irons are compared to the MacGregor MT-Pro irons, both offering great sets for skilled ball strikers at affordable prices. The traditional players irons provide good shot control and the ability to flight the ball up or down with plenty of spin. The slightly stronger lofts in the Axial Forged irons produce slightly longer shots with less spin, offering more distance and control, especially for players who tend to hit a higher ball.

The Ram Axial Forged irons have noticeable differences from the MT-Pro irons, including more offset, stronger lofts, and a wider sole with a lower CG. These features help the Axial Forged irons perform better on thin strikes and offer more protection against digging into the turf. The wider sole gives players more confidence in their shots and allows for more forgiveness on mishits.

Overall, the Ram Axial Forged irons deliver tremendous value for consistent ball strikers seeking shot control and classic looks, much like the FX77 irons that gained popularity among new Ram fans. As players improve, the Axial Forged irons provide an affordable option with high performance for skilled ball strikers. The combination of price, performance, and classic design makes these irons a compelling choice for aspiring and better players looking for quality on a budget.
