Review of the G/FORE MG4+ O2 G/Lock Golf Shoe

G/FORE is a brand that doesn’t do things quietly, with a reputation for making some of the best spikeless shoes on the market. In recent years, the brand has also started to make spiked shoes, with the introduction of the Gallivanter G/Lock last year and the new MG4+ O2 G/Lock this year. The new MG4+ O2 G/Lock is a more athletic spiked option based on the successful MG4+ silhouette, making it a promising addition to the range.

From a design perspective, the MG4+ O2 G/Lock ticks all the boxes with a fashion-forward aesthetic that balances block colorways and subtle detailing. The shoe has shed some of its earlier garishness for a more refined look that still reflects the brand’s stylish ethos. With ten spikes, the spiked outsole provides excellent grip without feeling like overkill. The midsole, while a bit chunky, is built using EVA for a lightweight and comfortable underfoot sensation.

The spiked outsole features 10 Tour Flex Pro Softspikes, providing ample grip on the course. The extra spike at the top of the foot adds to the shoe’s stability during the swing. The midsole, though slightly tall, serves a practical purpose in providing comfort and support. The moulded external heel counter and internal padding contribute to a secure fit that accommodates various foot shapes and sizes.

One standout feature of G/FORE shoes is the nubbed insole, which provides a massaging sensation as you walk. This unique design element helps alleviate foot fatigue during long rounds, making the shoe a standout in terms of comfort. While the MG4+ O2 G/Lock may not outshine other top models in the market, such as the Adidas Tour360 24 or the Payntr Eighty Seven SC, it is a solid choice for those seeking a stylish and comfortable spiked golf shoe.

Overall, the MG4+ O2 G/Lock from G/FORE offers a unique blend of style, comfort, and performance in the spiked golf shoe category. While the design may take some getting used to, the massaging insole alone makes it a highly recommended option for golfers looking for a distinctive and comfortable shoe. With its fashion-forward aesthetic and thoughtful design features, the MG4+ O2 G/Lock stands out as a top choice for those wanting to elevate their game on the course.
