Review of the Minimal Terra SE1 Stand Bag

Minimal Golf, also known as MNML in the US, has recently launched in the UK with a focus on creating products with a minimal impact on the planet. One of their standout bags is the Terra SE1, which is made of Seawastex nylon, constructed from abandoned ocean fishing nets. The brand, founded by Sam Goulden, has implemented magnetic closures rather than zippers to extend the lifespan of the bag, as broken zippers are the main reason golfers discard their bags.

The Terra SE1 bag features a sophisticated design in Frost White with black trim that resembles leather, along with a tour-inspired velour lined 5-way top divider. With a weight of 2.64kg, it strikes a balance between easy carrying and practicality, offering seven exterior pockets including an insulated cooler compartment and a lined valuables pocket. While there is no full-length apparel pocket, the magnetic closure system makes accessing pockets easier and quicker, with internal mesh pockets for organization.

During a two-day, three-round golf trip where unexpected rain occurred, the magnetic closures of the Terra SE1 were put to the test. While the bag is not waterproof, it was able to keep out a small amount of water in constant heavy rain with proper closure. The pockets may need to be carefully aligned to ensure a secure seal, but the bag does come with a rain hood to prevent water from getting in from the top.

The Terra SE1 can be used on both an electric cart and over the shoulders, with thick, padded straps for comfort. Priced at £400, the bag competes with premium brands like Stitch Golf and Vessel in the non-traditional bag market. While a waterproof guarantee would be ideal for the price, the Terra SE1 is a durable option for golfers who typically play in favorable conditions. Overall, the Terra SE1 offers a stylish and functional choice for golfers looking for a premium stand bag that prioritizes sustainability and longevity.
