Review of the PXG Sugar Daddy III Wedge

The PXG Sugar Daddy III wedges are the latest addition to PXG’s golf club lineup, following the success of their Black Ops driver and fairway wood earlier in the year. These wedges are designed to compete with the best in the market, offering both classy aesthetics and high performance on the golf course. The Sugar Daddy III wedges are 3x forged and feature a more refined, compact design compared to their predecessor, the Sugar Daddy II wedges. The traditional chrome finish option is priced at $299/£279, while the Xtreme Dark finish option is priced at $349/£329.

One of the standout features of the PXG Sugar Daddy III wedges is the Precision Weighting Technology, which allows golfers to customize their wedge based on their specific requirements. The large weight located on the rear of the club can be adjusted in 2 gram increments to achieve the perfect head and swing weight for each individual golfer. This customization is crucial for optimizing performance and avoiding issues such as early ground contact and poorly struck shots.

In addition to the BP and C grind options from the Sugar Daddy II wedges, PXG has introduced a new S grind to the Sugar Daddy III lineup. The S grind is designed for golfers who play on a variety of surfaces and want a versatile wedge with adequate bounce for different shots. The C grind with 7° of bounce is a popular choice for golfers with a shallow attack angle and firmer playing surfaces. The three grind options with different bounce variations offer enough versatility for most club golfers.

The PXG Sugar Daddy III wedges feature precision milled grooves that provide a high level of spin, especially from difficult lies such as the rough. The extensive forging and CNC milling processes give these wedges a soft and smooth feel through impact, which is ideal for better golfers looking for complete distance control. The full-face groove option in the BP grind offers additional forgiveness, while the compact and traditional head shapes of the C and S grind options will appeal to golfing purists.

Overall, the PXG Sugar Daddy III wedges impressed with both their performance and aesthetics. The refined design, customizable options, and versatile grind choices make them a strong contender for a spot in any golfer’s bag. Whether you’re looking for precision spin from the fairway or forgiveness from difficult lies, these wedges deliver on both fronts. With a focus on quality craftsmanship and player-specific customization, the PXG Sugar Daddy III wedges are a solid choice for golfers seeking top-notch performance on the course.
