Review of the Titleist GT2 Driver by Golf Monthly

Titleist has recently released their highly anticipated GT2 driver, which has generated a lot of excitement in the golf industry. The new GT range features innovative technology, including a Proprietary Matrix Polymer crown that is three times lighter than titanium, allowing for optimized mass distribution throughout the head. This new material contributes to the driver’s speed and performance improvements compared to its TSR predecessor.

Stephanie Luttrell, Director of Metalwood Product Development at Titleist, explained that the new crown material allows for significant advantages in designing the center of gravity and inertia goals of the GT range. The lightweight and malleable nature of the crown material provide surprising acoustics and feel, enhancing the overall experience of using the driver on the course.

The GT2 driver is designed to be user-friendly with the highest moment of inertia (MOI) in the range without sacrificing speed. The multi-material crown seamlessly integrates with the titanium body, maintaining Titleist’s clean and sophisticated aesthetic. The minimalist design and proportioned head size of the GT2 give players confidence at address and inspire a sense of sophistication.

In terms of performance, the GT2 driver impressed with exquisite sound and feel, along with increased forgiveness. The driver’s ability to maintain ball speed and dispersion on misses makes it a reliable option for players looking to improve their game. The GT range offers different playing characteristics from previous models, emphasizing the importance of custom fitting for optimal performance.

Although the sole design of the GT range may not appeal to all players, it does not affect the driver’s overall performance. The GT2 driver is available in various loft options and customizations, including grip, shaft, and head weight preferences. The driver offers a range of non-up chargeable shaft options, such as the Project X Denali Red, Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Blue and Black, and Project X Hzrdus Black 5th Gen.

Overall, the GT2 driver is a significant upgrade from previous models, with improvements in aerodynamics, acoustics, feel, and forgiveness. While no single feature stands out as the headline of the product, the driver’s success lies in the sum of its parts. Players can expect a premium experience with the GT2, making it a worthwhile investment for those looking to enhance their performance on the course.
