FHSAA State Golf Championships: Southwest Florida Teams Compete for Glory

As the sun rises over the lush greens of Mission Resort and Club in Howey-in-the-Hills, anticipation fills the air for the upcoming Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) state golf championships. Scheduled for November 14-19, 2025, this prestigious competition will showcase some of the finest young golfing talent from Southwest Florida. The tournament follows a 36-hole stroke play format, allowing teams and individual golfers to put their skills to the ultimate test.

In the Class 1A boys and girls events, competitors will take to the verdant El Campeon and Los Colinas courses, respectively. These meticulously maintained courses will challenge athletes with their unique layouts and strategic nuances. It’s not just about sinking putts; competitors must navigate hazards, slopes, and wind conditions that can make or break their performance.

The first round of the tournament is set for November 14-15, where the top-performing teams and individuals will aim for a place in history among Florida’s best. Following that, the Class 2A championships are slated for November 18-19, making this a week full of excitement and potential for achievements in young golf.

In the Class 1A state boys golf championships, the spotlight will be on standout players like Spencer Ives from the Community School of Naples and Kaden Latrielle from Marco Island Academy. Both players have displayed remarkable skill and consistency throughout the season, earning them a coveted position in the state competition. Their journey to the state championships reflects a blend of talent, hard work, and dedication to the sport.

On the girls’ side, the Community School of Naples team is poised to make its mark. Featuring strong performances from players like Isabella Michetti, Grace Shahraki, Emmey Siek, and Norah Urrea, they will look to improve on their previous standings. Another contender, Caraline Hartfield from the Village School, has shown she can rise to the occasion, making this a thrilling event for fans and teams alike.

Transitioning to Class 2A, the boys’ championship features formidable teams including Barron Collier and Estero High School. Key players such as Jack Donovan and Ian Psota from Barron Collier will be integral to the team’s strategy as they compete against equally talented teams from across the state. Fort Myers, with its roster that includes Henry Liebwein and Jackson Mills, aims to bring home a title, making this division particularly competitive.

On the girls’ front for Class 2A, schools like Barron Collier and Aubrey Rogers have once again carved their names in the competition. Prominent players such as Erin Erol and Kamryn Frea will look to make a significant impact, showcasing their skills against tough adversaries. As the tournament progresses, the team spirit and camaraderie will be palpable, a reminder of the broader community that supports these young athletes.

The significance of the FHSAA state championships extends beyond just winning; it represents the culmination of countless hours spent in practice, the dedication of coaches, and the support from families and communities. This event is not just a battle for trophies; it’s a chance for young golfers to experience the thrill of high-level competition and to create lasting memories.

Moreover, this year’s championships are a testament to the growing popularity of golf in Florida, particularly in Southwest Florida. With the region producing an increasing number of skilled young golfers, the future of the sport looks promising. As these athletes take their swings under the Florida sun, they symbolize not just their individual efforts but the collective advancement of youth golf in the state.

As competitors prepare to tee off, many stories are already unfolding—stories of perseverance, teamwork, and passion for the game. As Southwest Florida continues to nurture its golf talent, we can only anticipate that many of the athletes participating in this year’s championships will leave a mark on the sport well into their futures. Expect thrilling matches, heartfelt moments, and the unforgettable camaraderie that binds these young golfers together.

In closing, the excitement surrounding the FHSAA state golf championships is palpable. Fans, families, and schools will rally behind their athletes, each swing a step toward success. As these talented young golfers prepare to compete, they carry the hopes of their communities and the journey of a sport that has shaped their lives. Whether emerging as champions or learning from losses, every participant will leave with experiences that will last long after the final putt is made.
