Discovering the T-Squared TS-1104 Putter: A Golfer’s Best Friend?

When it comes to golf equipment, we know there are tons of options. But if you’re tired of cookie-cutter putters and crave something with a personal touch, look no further than T-Squared Putters. This brand, crafted with precision and passion in a family-run machine shop just outside Buffalo, NY, offers golfers a unique chance to own a piece of artistry on the green. Their founder, Tony Tuber, is obsessed with the details, and it shows in every putter they produce.

First Impressions Matter

Let’s kick things off with the T-Squared TS-1104 putter’s looks. This beauty boasts a sleek, minimalist vibe that’s hard to ignore. The chrome screws contrasting against the satin black body? Chef’s kiss! Though some might say it looks cheap, I find it refreshing. The fang mallet design is reminiscent of top-tier putters like the Scotty Cameron 5.5, but with its own unique flair thanks to those slightly longer wings.

The Tech Behind the Beauty

Now, let’s talk tech. The hosel of the TS-1104 features a flow neck design that unleashes 30° of toe hang, thanks to their ‘Built-Not-Bent’ technology. I had a chat with Tony himself, and he explained that they can tailor the toe hang and face balance for each model while still giving the golfer their perfect loft and lie. When I brought this putter out on the course, it nestled beautifully behind the ball. The balance throughout my swing was simply superb.

Personalized Perfection

Customization is the name of the game with T-Squared. If you opt for a stock model, you still get to choose your head and neck colors, as well as alignment aids. I decided to go for the dual alignment system, which consists of a small line on the top and another on the flange. Initially, I was worried I might obsess over my mechanics during the stroke. But surprisingly, lining up those markers gave me confidence and helped me focus on my pace, rather than stressing over technique.

Feel vs. Performance

One of the biggest surprises? The feel of the TS-1104. I expected a softer sensation due to the deep milling on the 6061 aircraft-grade aluminum insert. Don’t get me wrong—it doesn’t feel like a brick, but it’s firmer than some of the other milled putters I’ve tried this year. The sound at impact? Let’s just say it’s a loud, slightly ‘tinny’ tone that’s reminiscent of classic models like the Ping Anser.

The Personal Experience

I’ve always been a fan of milled putters, whether they’re mallet or blade style. But when I tried out the TS-1104, I struggled a bit with pace control. Part of this could be attributed to the firmer feel and that higher-pitched sound. Plus, I was using a large Flat-Cat putter grip, which felt different from the standard pistol grips I usually lean toward. While I liked the way it felt in my hands, I found it harder to maintain that all-important connection during my stroke.

Short Game Champion?

However, there’s a silver lining! That large grip did wonders for my alignment on shorter putts. Inside eight feet, I felt nearly unbeatable. The dual alignment system was effective in getting me set up right at my target. But I will say, it was a tiny bit odd when I faced severe slopes and the lines didn’t quite align. Still, I made it work!

The Big Picture

After testing the TS-1104, I’ve got to say I’m pretty impressed. While I can’t place it on the same pedestal as other premium brands in terms of sound and feel, it’s clear that meticulous craftsmanship went into this putter. You can really see—and feel—the quality when you have it in your hands.

Is It Worth the Investment?

Now, if you’re itching to snag one of these beauties, it’s good to know they retail at around $499. That’s no small change! You’ll definitely want to be sure about your custom choices, because getting that perfect fit is crucial. If you prefer a firmer feel and don’t mind a bit of noise at impact, the TS-1104 could be your new best friend on the greens.

Final Thoughts

So, should you consider the T-Squared TS-1104 for your next round? If you’re in the market for a custom-crafted, eye-catching putter that combines modern technology with classic aesthetics, this might be the one for you. With its personalization options, balanced design, and overall solid performance, it can elevate your game and add some swagger to your set. Whether you’re an amateur or a seasoned golfer, this putter deserves a spot in your bag. So, what are you waiting for? Give it a try and make those putting woes a thing of the past!
