Delaware is home to some of the best golf courses in the United States, according to GOLF’s recent rankings. The state’s top courses were selected by over 100 expert panelists as part of a rigorous ratings process. The rankings cover not only the best courses in the country but also the best courses that are open to the public. Golf enthusiasts can use GOLF’s Course Finder tool to create their own itinerary and plan a golf trip to some of Delaware’s top courses.

Wilmington’s South Course in Wilmington, Del., took the top spot as the best golf course in Delaware according to GOLF’s rankings. Other notable courses in the state include Bidermann GC and Wilmington’s North Course, both located in Wilmington. The Peninsula in Millsboro and Baywood Greens in Long Neck also made the list of top courses in Delaware. Wilmington Country Club, which hosted the 2022 BMW Championship, is a prominent golf destination in the state.

The process of ranking the golf courses involved providing each panelist with a ballot containing 609 courses. The panelists ranked the courses in various “buckets” based on their opinions of the course’s quality. Points were assigned to each bucket, and the courses were ranked based on their aggregate scores. The panelists come from diverse backgrounds and have extensive experience playing golf courses around the world, which adds to the credibility of the rankings.

The rankings aim to provide golf enthusiasts with a comprehensive list of the best courses in each state, as well as in the country as a whole. The rankings help golfers plan their trips and explore new courses that they may not have considered before. The Course Finder tool allows users to filter courses based on various criteria, including price, to tailor their golfing experience to their preferences.

GOLF’s rankings are widely respected in the golfing community because of the expertise and experience of the panelists involved in the ratings process. The panelists have played thousands of courses in various countries and have a deep understanding of golf course architecture. This diversity of knowledge ensures that the rankings are objective and reflective of the quality of each course.

For golfers looking to improve their game, GOLF’s affiliate GolfLogix offers custom Green Books to help navigate the greens at their home course. These tools can provide valuable insights and strategies for approaching putts and reading the greens accurately. By utilizing resources like Green Books and course rankings, golfers can enhance their overall golfing experience and improve their performance on the course.
