Located on Monkey Island in Oklahoma, Shangri-La Resort offers a hidden gem of resort golf at the end of a peninsula reaching into Grand Lake o’ the Cherokees. The resort features 27 holes of golf, a stellar hotel, and amenities for the entire family, making it a summer haven for boating and water activities. The recently opened Battlefield par-3 course, designed by Tom Clark and Kevin Atkinson, offers a challenging yet fun experience for golfers of all skill levels.

The Battlefield honors service members with each tee box featuring the names of Oklahoma veterans who served in World War II. Additionally, a QR code on each sign allows golfers to learn more about the heroes for whom the holes are named. The short course also includes the Legacy of Liberty Memorial Park, featuring World War II memorials and equipment, further honoring Oklahoma heroes of the past.

Shangri-La Resort’s three nine-hole layouts, including the Legends Nine, Heritage Nine, and Champions Nine, offer unique challenges and stunning views of Grand Lake. The resort underwent significant renovations in the late 2000s, transforming it into a world-class golf destination. With 45 holes of golf and a variety of amenities, Shangri-La caters to golfers and non-golfers alike, providing a relaxing getaway for all.

The resort’s beautiful setting on Grand Lake offers opportunities for outdoor activities beyond golf, including an indoor pool, outdoor resort pool, luxury spa, full-service marina, and six dining options. The addition of The Anchor, a $12 million indoor/outdoor activity park with virtual reality activities, sports bars, and various court options, offers year-round entertainment for guests of all ages.

Shangri-La’s dedication to honoring military veterans extends beyond the golf course, with monuments such as the replica anchor from the USS Oklahoma and the Legacy of Liberty Memorial Park. The resort’s commitment to creating a welcoming and relaxing environment for guests sets it apart from other golf destinations, making it a special place for visitors to unwind and enjoy a vacation.

With its championship golf courses, luxurious amenities, and stunning lakeside location, Shangri-La Resort on Monkey Island, Oklahoma, offers a unique and unforgettable experience for guests seeking a relaxing getaway. Whether you’re an avid golfer, a history buff, or simply looking for a family-friendly vacation spot, Shangri-La has something for everyone to enjoy.
