Vice Pro Plus vs. Titleist Pro V1: Is the Cost Difference Justified?

Vice Pro Plus vs. Titleist Pro V1: Is It Worth the Savings?

So, here’s the scoop: for the longest time, my go-to golf ball was the Vice Pro Plus. I absolutely loved the feel of it, relied on its performance around the greens, and let’s be real—the price was a total win. But then came the 2025 MyGolfSpy Golf Ball Test, and I got curious to see how the Vice Pro Plus stacked up against the legendary Titleist Pro V1.

Now, the Pro V1 is kind of the gold standard in golf balls. If you haven’t heard of it, where have you been? It’s like the control stick in every test, and loads of golfers want to know if the Vice Pro Plus is a smart alternative or just a compromise. Spoiler alert: I was also dying to find out.

Off the Tee: The Big Comparison

When we dove into the 2025 test, we found out some interesting stuff. The Pro V1 was an entire yard longer than the Vice Pro Plus at high and mid swing speeds. But, at slower swing speeds, the Vice actually performed better, gaining about four yards. I mean, who’s counting one yard, right?

The real clincher here is the spin. The Vice Pro Plus has about 100 more rpm of spin across the board. Now, that might sound trivial, but if you’re someone who struggles with shots that just balloon into the sky, this could mean finding a little extra lift.

Irons: What’s the Deal?

Swinging those irons? The story stays pretty consistent. At high and mid swing speeds, the Pro V1 again carried about one yard farther than the Vice Pro Plus. Yet, at slower speeds, the Vice actually came in four yards longer! For those of us who don’t swing as fast, that can be a game-changer.

However, when it comes to stopping power, the Pro V1 takes the cake. Thanks to its slightly higher spin, it dives onto the green at a steeper angle, making it easier to hold those greens. If you’re targeting pins and want your shots to stay put, you might want to keep that in mind.

Wedges: The Real Test

Now let’s chat about those delicate wedge shots. Here’s where things get spicy! On a 35-yard wedge shot, the Vice Pro Plus spun a bit more than the Pro V1—5,823 rpm compared to 5,689 rpm. For that finesse around the greens where you want the ball to bite, the Vice is absolutely up to the task.

But when you crank the full swing, the Pro V1 takes the lead with a whopping 9,324 rpm of spin against the Vice’s 8,612 rpm. In this scenario, that extra spin can be the difference between a ball that gets a nice stop and one that rolls away a bit more than you’d like.

Feel and Construction: What’s Inside?

Let’s get into feels and features. The Vice Pro Plus is the firmest in the Vice lineup, boasting a 100 compression and a four-piece construction. It’s built for higher spin and impressive lift. On the flip side, the Pro V1 sits in that mid-compression, mid-spin zone that’s beloved worldwide. It’s a bit softer off the face, offering that classic urethane feel. Comfort in play, baby!

Price: A Game-Changer

Now, let’s talk dollars. The Vice Pro Plus retails for about $39.99 per dozen. And if you snag six dozen? You can roll with a sweet $34.99 per dozen discount.

In contrast, the Pro V1 comes in at a cool $55 per dozen—and good luck finding multi-dozen discounts. Over a season, especially if you count a few lost balls along the way, that difference really adds up. Just saying!

Final Thoughts: Is Vice Pro Plus Worth It?

So, after all the testing and number crunching, is the Vice Pro Plus really worth the savings? Well, it boils down to your game.

  • If you’re hunting for maximum spin and consistency with full wedges—sure, the Pro V1 has the edge.

  • But if you want to save some cash without sacrificing much off the tee or around the greens, the Vice Pro Plus is surprisingly close to the Pro V1. In certain areas, like partial wedges or slower swing iron shots, it might even be a better fit for you.

For me, these test results reaffirmed what I already thought about the Vice Pro Plus. It delivers top-notch performance without breaking the bank. For golfers who want that premium experience without the premium price tag, it’s definitely an option worth taking a closer look at.

So there you have it, a detailed but easy-to-digest comparison of two heavyweights in the golf ball game. Whether you stick with your trusted Pro V1 or give the Vice Pro Plus a shot, the most crucial thing is to choose a ball that complements your unique game. Happy swinging!
