Viktor Hovland has had a challenging year in 2024 after a successful season in 2023, where he won two playoff events and the FedEx Cup trophy. Despite a third-place finish at the PGA Championship, Hovland struggled for much of the season, missing three of the four major cuts and failing to secure any victories on the PGA Tour. One major change in his career was his decision to switch swing coaches after his successful season, which may have contributed to his struggles. However, Hovland has reunited with his longtime coach Joe Mayo, and his game is showing signs of improvement.

Hovland’s recent performance at the FedEx St. Jude Invitational, where he shot his lowest round of the year with a seven-under 63, indicates that his game is on the right track. While there is still work to be done, Hovland is feeling more confident in his abilities and is starting to see glimpses of his old form. Despite some setbacks and reverting to old habits occasionally, Hovland remains dedicated to working on his game and is optimistic about his progress.

Known for his work ethic and love for the grind of professional golf, Hovland is no stranger to hard work. His commitment to improving his game, even after a challenging season, is a testament to his character and determination. Hovland acknowledges that he made a mistake in changing coaches but has shown humility and resilience in moving forward. He understands the importance of learning from his mistakes and continuing to push himself to perform at his best.

Hovland’s attitude towards his recent struggles is positive, as he sees them as opportunities to push himself to perform better. He believes that having his back against the wall creates a sense of urgency that motivates him to squeeze out more from his abilities. Despite the ups and downs of the season, Hovland remains focused on turning his performance around and achieving success.

With two long days ahead in Memphis, Hovland still has the opportunity to improve his season and potentially secure a victory. While it may not be the major championship glory he initially hoped for at the start of the season, a win would be significant for Hovland and could help boost his confidence going forward. Ultimately, Hovland’s results on the course will speak for themselves, and his determination to overcome challenges and improve his game is commendable.

In conclusion, Viktor Hovland’s journey in the 2024 PGA Tour season has been a mix of challenges and opportunities for growth. Despite a difficult start to the season, Hovland’s decision to reunite with his longtime coach and his dedication to improving his game demonstrate his resilience and commitment to success. As he continues to work on his game and strive for better results, Hovland’s positive attitude and determination will be key factors in his future success on the PGA Tour.
