The 2025 LPGA Tour season kicks off with the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club in Orlando, Florida. This season marks the 75th anniversary of the circuit, with a total of around $130m in prize money up for grabs throughout the season. The season opener offers a $2m purse with the winner taking home $300,000 and 500 Race to CME Globe points.
The field for the Tournament of Champions is limited to LPGA Tour winners over the last two years, with just 32 players teeing it up in the event. Defending champion Lydia Ko will be looking to start the season strong after an impressive 2024 campaign that saw her claim several victories, including an Olympics gold medal and a place in the LPGA Hall of Fame. World No. 1 Nelly Korda, who won seven times in 2024, is also in the field and looking to secure her first win at this tournament.
Aside from Ko and Korda, the field includes other star names such as Brooke Henderson, Hannah Green, Ayaka Furue, Yuka Saso, Rose Zhang, Jin Young Ko, Celine Boutier, and Minjee Lee. However, some eligible players have opted to skip the tournament, including Mone Inami, Grace Kim, Jeeno Thitikul, Ruoning Yin, and Lilia Vu.
Since its inception in 2019, the Tournament of Champions has been held at Lake Nona Golf & Country Club, a course known for its abundance of freshwater lakes. The tournament offers a separate competition for celebrities, with a $500,000 purse and celebrities such as Don Cheadle, Anthony Anderson, Blake Griffin, and Brandi Chastain participating.
The 2024 Tournament of Champions was won by Lydia Ko, who defeated Alexa Pano by two shots. This year’s event promises to be another exciting and competitive start to the LPGA Tour season as players vie for the top prize money and valuable Race to CME Globe points.
