Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla, Washington, is gearing up to host the Pacific Northwest Golf Association Men’s Amateur and the Golfweek Pacific Northwest Senior Amateur. Director of Golf Tyler Sweet praises the course’s versatility and layout, which has previously hosted top events and qualifiers. Nestled in the Blue Mountains, Wine Valley is ranked No. 3 in the state on Golfweek’s Best Public Courses list.

The Golfweek Pacific Northwest Senior Amateur will take place on July 16-18, featuring four divisions: Senior, Super Senior, Legends, and Super Legends. The course is known for its panoramic mountain views and natural design, with large greens that pose a challenge for players. The Senior division will include top-ranked players such as Kevin VandenBerg and Jack Larkin, both of whom have impressive resumes in senior golf. Jim Pliska, the owner of Wine Valley Golf Club, will also compete in the Senior division.

In the Super Senior division, Jim Starnes, the top-ranked player in Golfweek’s rankings, will be a player to watch. Dan Parkinson, a top-25 player, will compete in the Legends field. Wine Valley’s rugged and natural bunkering adds to the challenge of the course, requiring strategic play around the greens. Players must navigate the rolling hills and farm fields that make up the unique landscape of the golf course.

The rich history of Wine Valley Golf Club and its reputation for hosting top events make it a popular destination for players of all levels. The course’s design by Dan Hixson emphasizes the natural beauty of the surroundings and provides a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers. With its ranking on Golfweek’s Best Modern Courses list, Wine Valley continues to attract top talent from around the country.

The upcoming tournaments at Wine Valley Golf Club will showcase the talents of senior players from across the country. With a strong field of competitors, including top-ranked players and former champions, the events promise to be exciting and competitive. The combination of challenging course conditions and stunning scenery make Wine Valley a must-visit destination for any golf enthusiast.
