TGL Prize Money Payout: What Will Players Earn?

The TGL, founded by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, is finally set to kick off after a 12-month delay. The inaugural event will feature New York Golf Club facing off against The Bay Golf Club on the 7th January. The league comprises six teams of four players each, with some big names such as Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods, and others participating. The matches will take place at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, featuring a high-tech simulator and a state-of-the-art short game area with sand from Augusta National and real grass for players to hit off.

Throughout the season, a total of $21 million in prize money will be up for grabs, with the winning club set to earn $9 million, equating to $2.25 million for each player. The matches will be 15-hole matchups lasting around two hours, with each team playing each other once during the regular season. The top two teams will advance to the finals in March, with the first-place team facing the fourth-place team and the second and third-place teams squaring off against each other.

The TGL features six teams, each with a unique roster of players. Some of the teams include Atlanta Drive GC with players like Justin Thomas and Patrick Cantlay, Boston Common Golf with Rory McIlroy and Hideki Matsuyama, and New York Golf Club with Matt Fitzpatrick and Rickie Fowler. The full schedule for the 2025 TGL season has been released, with matches airing on ESPN and ESPN2.

The format of the TGL matches consists of two teams competing over 15 holes, with only three players from each team participating on a week-by-week basis. The holes are divided into two sessions – nine holes of Triples (3 vs 3 alternate shot) and six holes of Singles featuring a rotating head-to-head. Points are awarded for each hole won, with ties resulting in zero points. In the event of a tie after 15 holes, teams will compete in an “overtime tiebreaker” involving a 3-on-3 closest-to-the-pin competition.

The TGL promises an exciting and fast-paced golf experience, with high stakes and intense competition among the top players in the game. Fans can expect to see some thrilling matchups and impressive performances as the league unfolds. With a mix of seasoned veterans and up-and-coming talents, the TGL is sure to capture the attention of golf enthusiasts around the world. Stay tuned for updates and highlights from the TGL matches as the season progresses.
