Review of the Srixon ZXi Max Driver

In 2024, the high MOI driver category saw significant success with models like the TaylorMade Qi10 Max and the Ping G430 Max 10K. Following this trend, other manufacturers such as Cobra and Srixon have released similar products like the DS-Adapt Max K and the ZXi Max, respectively. The Srixon ZXi Max aims to compete with the best drivers of 2025 and offers a range of features for golfers looking to improve their game.

The technology story behind the Srixon ZXi Max driver is similar to its LS counterpart, with weight ports in varying locations around the head to produce different flight characteristics. This approach allows for three drivers that perform differently while using the same base chassis, which is a smart and economical engineering decision. Despite this, the aesthetics of the ZXi Max may be compromised as a result of solely using weight ports to shift the center of gravity and vary the MOI.

While the ZXi Max may look similar to other drivers on the market, its playability is top-notch, with the clubhead offering forgiveness on mishit shots and tight dispersion. The driver provides a solid feel with a slightly higher-pitched noise compared to carbon-orientated counterparts, but still offers an improved acoustic experience. The neutral flight bias of the driver makes it user-friendly, although some golfers may prefer a sprinkle of draw bias for added versatility.

The shift in nomenclature from numbers to ‘Max’ and ‘LS’ models for the Srixon lineup is a welcome change, making it easier for golfers to understand the differences between the various options. The ZXi Max driver is expected to have broad appeal among amateur players and should be considered for those looking to upgrade their driver in 2025. With a starting price of $549/£549, the driver is available in a variety of custom shaft and grip options, with the stock shaft being a Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 6 in R, S, and X flex, paired with a Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 grip.

Overall, the Srixon ZXi Max driver offers a blend of performance, forgiveness, and aesthetics that make it a strong contender in the high MOI driver category. Its technology story, playability, and user-friendly design make it a solid option for golfers looking to improve their game and add distance to their drives. With a focus on customization and a competitive price point, the ZXi Max driver is a compelling choice for those seeking a reliable and versatile driver option in 2025.
