Review of the Ping G440 LST Driver

The Ping G430 LST was a popular driver on professional tours in 2024, with many non-contracted tour professionals choosing to play with it. The new Ping G440 LST driver has big shoes to fill in 2025, and I have been testing it out to see how it compares to other top drivers on the market. The G440 LST features a low center of gravity (CG) location, achieved through weight-saving advancements higher up on the head.

A combination of a shallower face, lightweight carbon crown, and Free Hosel design helps save weight and align the CG closer to the force line for faster ball speed, optimal spin, and higher launch. Lowering the CG gives players a better chance of hitting high-launching, low-spinning flights for maximum distance. The G440 LST is designed for players with faster swing speeds, offering lower spin and more control.

The G440 LST has a 450cc design with a 29-gram back weight for stability. While the design and colorway of the G430 range may be preferred by some, the G440 LST still looks strong and tidy behind the ball. In terms of performance, the G440 LST retains ball speed well from strikes low on the face, making it a great option for players who tend to miss in that area.

Overall, the performance of the G440 LST is similar to the G430 LST, with minor refinements that enhance the overall experience. The slight fade bias of the LST model remains, appealing to lower handicap players. The driver features a head weight of 205 grams, adjustable lofts of 9° and 10.5°, and stock shaft options including the PING Alta CB Blue 55 and PING Alta Quick 35/45.

The Ping G440 LST is priced at $650 with a stock shaft, making it a competitive option in the driver market. The driver offers solid performance, especially for players who tend to miss low on the face. With its low CG location and weight-saving advancements, the G440 LST is designed to provide players with faster swing speeds the ability to achieve optimal launch conditions and control.

In conclusion, the Ping G440 LST is a worthy successor to the popular G430 LST, offering similar performance with minor refinements. The driver’s low CG and stability features make it a great choice for players looking to maximize distance and control off the tee. Despite subjective preferences in design, the G440 LST stands out for its solid performance and innovative technology.
