After spending two seasons in LIV Golf, Anthony Kim faced a significant challenge when he concluded the 2025 season in the “Drop Zone.” The 40-year-old golfer made a long-awaited return to competitive golfing in 2024 after a 12-year hiatus but struggled to find his footing, achieving only one top-25 finish throughout his time in the league.

Season Overview

In the 2025 season, Kim finished 55th in the individual standings, leading to his relegation from the Saudi-backed league. However, his absence from LIV was short-lived.

Promising Performance at Black Diamond Ranch

Kim secured his spot back in LIV Golf by finishing solo third at the recent Promotions event held at Black Diamond Ranch. His performance earned him one of the coveted spots for the upcoming 2026 season. Competing vigorously, Kim shot a respectable second-round score of 69 and made a crucial putt on the 18th hole to advance to the weekend. He then improved his game further, carding scores of 66 and 69 across the final rounds.

Kim’s Reflections on His Comeback

“This is just the first step,” Kim remarked after securing his position. “I’m glad I earned my spot so everybody could quit talking s–t, and I’ll be back soon and I’ll be winning golf tournaments soon.” His attitude reflects a mixture of determination and optimism regarding his future in the sport.

Entering the week, Kim was confident that his game was progressing well, regardless of whether he made it back to LIV. “I’ve played a lot of golf,” he commented. “My perspective on life has changed. Obviously, it would be a great feeling to make it back on LIV and qualify. But this isn’t the only thing left for me.”

Joining Kim in LIV Golf 2026

Anthony Kim will be joined in the LIV Golf league by Richard T. Lee, who claimed victory at the Promotions event with a score of 11 under. Lee is noteworthy for being the first Canadian to participate in LIV. Also performing well was Sweden’s Bjorn Hellgren, who impressed with a Sunday score of 64 to finish in second place.

Kim’s Ongoing Journey

Kim’s consistent efforts and competitive spirit are apparent as he works to regain his former golf prowess. His Sunday score of 69 marks yet another important step in his comeback journey. Reflecting on his dedication, Kim expressed, “I’m not here to prove everyone wrong; I’m here to prove myself right. I’ve worked so hard, and this little girl right here [pointing to his daughter] is one of the reasons why.”

With the support of his family and the hard work put in over the past two years, Kim is set to return to LIV Golf in 2026, eager to compete at the highest level once again.

This exciting turn of events not only highlights Kim’s journey back to professional golf but also sets the stage for upcoming seasons in LIV Golf. As anticipation builds for the year ahead, fans can look forward to seeing how Kim and his fellow competitors perform.
