Brooks Koepka was caught in a war of words with a fan who taunted him from the galleries of the PGA Championship on Friday.

The LIV Golf star, a three-time winner of the PGA Championship, endured a miserable week at Quail Hollow.

Koepka finished nine-over-par after the opening two rounds, missing the cut by eight shots. And his frustrations boiled over on Friday, when a fan shouted at him from the stands.

‘That’s what guaranteed money does to you, Brooks!’ the spectator shouted, in reference to the huge fees given to many rebels who left the PGA Tour for LIV Golf.

‘You want to come down here and say it?’ the American could be heard saying in response.

Koepka joined LIV back in 2022 in a deal worth a reported $100million. He was one of a number of big names who left the PGA Tour, with the likes of Phil Mickelson and Jon Rahm also joining the Saudi-backed breakaway.

Dustin Johnson (+12) also struggled at Quail Hollow, as did Mickelson, who had a hole to forget on Friday.

The lefty was three-under-par for his second round when he made a quadruple bogey on the 12th.

After finding the bunker, Mickelson needed four shots to get out of the sand before finally carding an eight on the par four. He went on to finish on nine-over-par for the tournament.

The 54-year-old has now missed the cut in four of his past five major championships.
