PGA Aroeira Lisboa, formerly known as Aroeira, has recently undergone a major rebrand and is now part of the prestigious PGA National brand, joining the ranks of other renowned PGA resorts such as Gleneagles in Scotland and The Belfry in England. The iconic 36-hole Lisbon venue and its two courses have received significant investment in golf and leisure facilities, solidifying its position as one of Portugal’s premier golf destinations.
The rebranding of Aroeira to PGA Aroeira Lisboa marks the beginning of a new era for the resort, with a focus on blending tradition and innovation under the esteemed PGA brand. The management company, Details – Sports, Hospitality, Leisure, aims to set a new standard for golf in Portugal and provide world-class facilities to golfers from around the globe. Richard Barker, executive director – business development of The PGA, expressed excitement about the partnership and the prospect of hosting future PGA events in Portugal.
Aroeira’s two 18-hole championship courses have been given new names as part of the partnership, with Aroeira Pines Classic now known as PGA Aroeira 1 and Aroeira Challenge rebranded as PGA Aroeira 2. PGA Aroeira 1, a two-time host of the Portuguese Open, has undergone renovation including upgrades to tee boxes, bunkers, greens, and fairways. The course now features a state-of-the-art irrigation system for improved sustainability and playing conditions.
PGA Aroeira 2, with its undulating greens and picturesque lakes, is set to receive similar upgrades to enhance the overall golfing experience at the resort. In addition to the course improvements, Aroeira will offer new real estate options from villas to apartments, designed by leading architects as an investment opportunity or primary residence. The resort will also feature sports and leisure facilities, including restaurants, a café, and a new clubhouse.
Details Group, the platform responsible for managing hospitality, sports, and leisure areas at Arrow Global in Portugal, took over management of Aroeira at the end of 2023. PGA Aroeira Lisboa is one of nine golf courses operated by Details in Portugal, alongside other popular destinations such as Vilamoura, Lagos (Palmares), and Vale Pisão. The group also manages 15 hotels across the country, offering a diverse range of accommodations for visitors.
With its new partnership with The PGA and commitment to enhancing the golfing experience for visitors, PGA Aroeira Lisboa is poised to become a premier destination for golf enthusiasts worldwide.
