In the Olympic women’s golf competition held at Le Golf National, Céline Boutier took the lead with an impressive opening round of 7-under 65, delighting the home crowds. She recorded eight birdies and just one bogey to equal the lowest first-round score in Olympic history, matching previous efforts by Ariya Jutanugarn and Madelene Sagstrom. The Frenchwoman, ranked No.7 in the world, is in pursuit of her first Olympic medal after winning her first major last year at The Amundi Evian Championship.

Boutier started strong with three front-nine birdies and continued her momentum with back-to-back gains after the turn to take the solo lead. Despite a lone bogey on the 12th hole, she refocused and made three consecutive birdies from the 14th through to the 16th, including a chip-in at the par-3 16th hole. She finished with a great ovation from the fans gathered around the 18th green, leading the field over South African major winner Ashleigh Buhai, who carded a solid 68 in her second Olympic appearance.

Defending gold medalist Nelly Korda had a slow start with an even-par 72, while Team GB’s Georgia Hall is in a challenging position after shooting a two-over 74. Charley Hull struggled from the beginning, shooting an 81 to fall out of medal contention, leaving her 16 shots behind the leader. Despite some early setbacks, there is still plenty of golf left to play in the competition, with a tight leaderboard and opportunities for players to make a move up the standings.

World No. 2 Lilia Vu is tied for third at 2-under, alongside Morgane Metraux, Gaby Lopez, and Mariajo Uribe. With high stakes and strong competition, the battle for the Olympic gold medal in women’s golf is shaping up to be an exciting one. Fans can follow live scores from the competition to stay up to date on the latest developments and see how their favorite players are performing on the course.

As the tournament progresses, the pressure will only increase on the players vying for a spot on the podium. Each shot will be crucial in determining the outcome of the competition, with every birdie and bogey potentially shifting the standings. The Olympic women’s golf competition promises to deliver drama and excitement as the world’s top players battle it out for a chance to etch their names in history as Olympic medalists.

With a strong start from Boutier and notable performances from other top contenders, including Buhai and Vu, the competition is heating up as players jockey for position on the leaderboard. The unexpected outcomes and moments of brilliance that define Olympic competition are sure to captivate audiences and showcase the skill and talent of the athletes competing on the world stage. Stay tuned for more updates and results from the Olympic women’s golf competition as the tournament progresses towards an exciting conclusion.
