Sir Nick Faldo, the six-time Major champion, is back as the host of the Betfred British Masters at The Belfry this week, alongside former tournament host Luke Donald. The focus of this year’s tournament is on the qualification campaign for the 2025 European Ryder Cup team. The European players are eager to make a strong start as they aim to secure a spot on Captain Donald’s 12-man team for the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black next September.

Among the players hoping to make a mark at the British Masters is Tyrrell Hatton, who is eyeing his fourth consecutive Ryder Cup appearance. Despite joining LIV Golf earlier this year, Hatton has not given up his DP World Tour card and is awaiting a court decision on potential fines for participating in LIV Golf tournaments that clashed with DP World Tour events.

Sir Nick Faldo is excited about the strong field at this year’s British Masters, with 16 of his Faldo Series alumni in the mix. He is hoping to see a European player emerge victorious this week and start accumulating Ryder Cup points early in the qualification process. Faldo emphasized the importance of a strong start in the points race for players looking to secure a spot on the European team for the 2025 Ryder Cup.

Luke Donald, who is competing in the British Masters this week, expressed his excitement about the start of the Ryder Cup points race. He shared his memories of grinding for points in previous Ryder Cup years and the extra motivation it provided. Donald is looking forward to the challenge of earning points and potentially securing a spot on the European team for the upcoming Ryder Cup.

Despite never having played at The Belfry before, Tyrrell Hatton is eager to make his mark at this historic venue. He sees the British Masters as a perfect opportunity to kickstart his Ryder Cup campaign and is determined to put on a strong performance in front of the home fans. Hatton’s goal is to make the 2025 European Ryder Cup team and he is focused on making a memorable impression at the British Masters.

Playing at The Belfry holds special significance for Hatton, who has fond memories of hitting tee shots on his dad’s simulator. He views this tournament as a chance to fulfill his dream of representing Europe in the Ryder Cup and is determined to give the fans something to cheer about. Hatton, along with other English players competing this week, is aiming to make plenty of birdies and showcase their best golf in front of the home crowd.
