The Travelers Championship was the stage for Callaway to debut their new line of Opus wedges, which includes a standard Opus model and an Opus Platinum. These wedges have been in development for some time and have been spotted in the bags of PGA Tour players such as Jon Rahm and Chris Kirk. Despite the similar appearance of these wedges, there have been significant tweaks in shaping, behind the ball, and sole shaping, according to GOLF’s Jonathan Wall and Ryan Barath.

The transition between the lofts of these wedges is something that stands out, as more players are using specialty pitching wedges and looking for an evolved shape. The organic shape of the Opus wedges is described as pleasing to see behind the ball and easy to align regardless of how the face is oriented. These design features contribute to the performance of the wedges, making them a potentially popular choice for golfers looking to enhance their game with new equipment.

While details about the retail release and availability of the Opus wedges for consumers are not yet known, the buzz surrounding these new wedges has already started to build. Golf enthusiasts and equipment aficionados are eagerly awaiting the opportunity to test out these wedges for themselves and experience firsthand the innovations that Callaway has incorporated into their design.
