Charley Hull Clinches First Title in 2 Years at LET Tournament in Saudi Arabia

Charley Hull recently clinched her first title in two years at the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – Riyadh with a closing 6-under 66. The English golfer has been trending for some time and finally made it back to the winner’s circle. Hull expressed her satisfaction with the win in Saudi Arabia, stating that she felt sharp and played solidly throughout the tournament. Despite a few mistakes towards the end, she managed to maintain her composure and finish strong at 18 under for the three-day event, three strokes ahead of Denmark’s Nicole Broch Estrup.

The 28-year-old Hull has been on a strong streak of play since injuring her right shoulder in July, with impressive performances in her last four starts on the LPGA and a decisive victory at the Solheim Cup. She attributes her consistent play to feeling good about her game and believes that her hard work finally paid off with this win. Hull now boasts four Ladies European Tour titles and plans to continue competing in upcoming LPGA events before heading home for Christmas.

Chiara Tamburlini, a Swiss player, made history by becoming the first Swiss player to win the LET Order of Merit after her T-7 finish at Riyadh. The 24-year-old’s achievement is even more remarkable as she is only the seventh player in LET history to win both the Order of Merit and Rookie of the Year in the same season, joining a prestigious list of golfers. This marked the conclusion of the $1 million Aramco Team Series presented by PIF tournaments organized by Golf Saudi.

The LET’s Saudi-backed events have faced criticism due to the country’s human rights abuses, especially towards women. Despite the controversy surrounding the tournaments, the players involved have focused on their performance on the course and their personal achievements. The success of players like Hull and Tamburlini highlights the talent and dedication of women golfers, regardless of the political implications of competing in Saudi Arabia.

Hull’s victory in Riyadh adds to her impressive resume, which includes two LPGA wins and now four LET titles. Her determination to push through injuries and setbacks demonstrates her resilience as a professional golfer. As she looks ahead to the remaining LPGA events and reflects on her successful season, Hull remains focused on her goals and motivated to continue improving her game. With strong performances and a positive mindset, she is poised to achieve even greater success in the future.
