Club pro Jason Caron’s incredible journey to clinch a coveted 2025 PGA Tour Champions tour card after playing only nine events at the age of 52 is a story that has captured the golf world’s attention. In a field that includes legends and Hall of Famers, Caron’s T3 finish at the Simmons Bank Championship was enough to launch him to No. 35 on the Charles Schwab Cup points list, securing his spot among the top 36 players who receive fully-exempt status for the following year.

Padraig Harrington described the PGA Tour Champions circuit as “the hardest tour to keep your card in the world,” making Caron’s accomplishment even more impressive. In nine events, Caron finished T4 or better an incredible four times, showcasing his talent and determination. While Caron now has a fully-exempt PGA Tour Champions card for 2025, he has no intention of giving up his day job as a club pro at New York’s Mill River Club. Instead, he plans to balance his golf career with his work responsibilities, thanks to the flexibility afforded by the winter closure of the club.

Caron’s wife, Liz, a former LPGA Tour pro, also works at Mill River Club, highlighting the couple’s strong ties to the game of golf. With two young daughters, Caron values family as his top priority, indicating that his golf pursuits will always come second to his children. Despite his unexpected success on the senior tour, Caron remains humble and grateful for the opportunity to compete against some of the sport’s most storied players.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Caron envisions playing a limited schedule on the PGA Tour Champions, focusing on major tournaments and potentially earning spots in prestigious events. With a newfound confidence and a full schedule awaiting him in 2025, Caron is excited to continue his journey in professional golf. As he prepares for the Charles Schwab Cup Championship at Phoenix Country Club, Caron reflects on his remarkable rise from a club pro to a fully-exempt member of the PGA Tour Champions.

In conclusion, Jason Caron’s inspiring story serves as a reminder of the resilience and determination required to succeed in the competitive world of professional golf. His unexpected journey to clinch a PGA Tour Champions card at the age of 52 showcases the power of hard work, perseverance, and unwavering passion for the game. As Caron continues to balance his roles as a club pro and a tournament competitor, he remains a symbol of hope and inspiration for golfers of all ages and skill levels.
