Crowborough Beacon Announces ‘Festival of Golf’ Plans

Crowborough Beacon Golf Club has announced plans for a six-day golf extravaganza in the summer of 2025, following a record-breaking year of success. Known as ‘The Beacon’s Festival of Golf,’ this event is the latest innovation from the club after experiencing unprecedented levels of green fee revenues and near capacity membership numbers in the past year.

The club attributes its record-breaking demand for membership to its exciting events calendar, with plans for an enticing schedule for both members and guests throughout 2024 and into the new year. Approximately one third of the club’s 700 members fall into the ‘intermediate’ category (ages 18-40), indicating the emergence of a new generation within the membership. Additionally, female membership saw a 35 per cent increase in 2024.

Club spokesperson, Dowrick, expressed delight with the success seen in 2024 and emphasized the goal to further enhance green fee sales while cultivating the strongest and most diverse membership in the club’s history. The upcoming festival is a prime example of the new additions and introductions being implemented to enhance member experiences and maintain Crowborough Beacon’s reputation as a prestigious club.

Scheduled to take place from June 7-12, ‘The Beacon’s Festival of Golf’ will feature six consecutive days of inclusive competition across various individual and team events. Visiting golfers will have the opportunity to experience the premium heathland course at exceptional value, while members can enjoy discounted entry fees for all competitive events. Highlights include the return of the Beacon Trophy and the introduction of the Beacon Salver for female golfers.

The festival will culminate in a prize-giving ceremony on June 12, followed by a family BBQ on the clubhouse terrace. Profits from the week-long celebration will be reinvested back into the club to fund projects focused on bunker improvement and cart path replacements.

Crowborough Beacon’s par-71 course, designed by renowned architects such as Harry Colt and Alister MacKenzie, has been a staple since the club’s establishment in 1895. The original designer of the course remains a mystery, but the club’s reputation for its scenic landscape and panoramic views at one of the highest points in Sussex is well-known. The club also holds historical significance as a favorite of author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, who served as club captain in the early 20th century.

For more information about Crowborough Beacon Golf Club and ‘The Beacon’s Festival of Golf,’ interested individuals can visit the club’s website for details on registration, event schedules, and other relevant information. Be sure to mark your calendars for this exciting six-day golf extravaganza in the summer of 2025!
