Fixing My Broken Golf Game: A 4-Part Plan

Becoming a scratch golfer is a goal that many recreational players aspire to achieve because of the prestige associated with it. Zephyr Melton, a contributor for GOLF.com, has been working towards this goal for the past several years, seeing his handicap index go as low as 3 at times. However, despite making progress towards his goal, the last two seasons have been particularly challenging for him in reaching scratch status. His game has suffered, and he is determined to turn things around for the better. Melton outlines a 4-part plan to fix his floundering golf game in hopes of improving his performance on the course.

The first step in Melton’s plan is to get lessons from a golf professional regularly. He acknowledges that during his best seasons, he was consistently getting his swing checked out, which played a significant role in his success on the course. By committing to at least one lesson every six weeks, Melton hopes to correct any swing flaws and maintain his game at a high level.

As Melton approaches his 30s, he also recognizes the importance of physical fitness in golf. To enhance his performance, he plans to incorporate a fitness routine into his regimen, starting with GolfForever Swing Trainer. This swing trainer and fitness aid will help him build strength, mobility, and consistency in his swing, ultimately leading to better results on the course.

Speed training is another crucial aspect of Melton’s game improvement plan. While he has always been known for his accuracy rather than distance, he acknowledges that adding more speed to his swing can benefit his overall performance. By utilizing speed training aids like The Stack System, Melton aims to increase his clubhead speed and gain an edge against his competitors.

Lastly, Melton plans to revisit his putting game by returning to his trusty Odyssey White Hot No. 9 putter. Despite going through multiple putter changes in recent years, he believes that sticking to what worked for him in the past can help him regain his touch on the greens. By focusing on his putting and returning to familiar equipment, Melton hopes to improve his overall scoring.

In conclusion, Zephyr Melton’s 4-part plan to fix his floundering golf game highlights the importance of continuous improvement in golf. By incorporating regular lessons, fitness routines, speed training, and revisiting old reliable equipment, Melton aims to elevate his game and work towards achieving his goal of becoming a scratch golfer. This comprehensive approach to game improvement serves as a reminder to all golfers that consistent effort and dedication are key to success on the course.
