Golf Monthly’s Review of the Srixon ZXi Driver

Srixon may be one of the most underrated equipment manufacturers in the game, but their latest driver, the ZXi, is looking to rival the best golf drivers on the market. With major championship victories in the hands of players like Hideki Matsuyama and Shane Lowry, Srixon drivers have proven their worth. The ZXi features an all-new ‘i-FLEX’ face design that aims to create a more efficient energy transfer at strike. This face structure allows for a thinner center to boost ball speed, while adjustable weights on the sole allow for fine-tuning of swing weight and CG. The visible laser face milling has been introduced to stabilize spin and forgiveness in wet conditions.

Visually, the Srixon ZXi driver has improved dramatically from previous models. The sole view is sophisticated and less cluttered, while the glossy strip running along the sole adds a striking touch. Behind the ball, the crown has a textured finish that prevents smudging from moisture, and the extra detailing around the perimeter has been removed for a cleaner look. The face milling adds a nice detail to the overall premium aesthetic of the driver.

Performance is key, and the Srixon ZXi driver delivers. Tested on a launch monitor with Titleist Pro V1x golf balls, the ZXi showed improved audio with a quieter, more refined sound compared to previous models. The raw launch monitor data revealed significant jumps in performance, with improved spin and launch profiles that produced excellent distance numbers. The driver also demonstrated consistency across testing sessions, with good contact easily attainable and impressive ball speed retention on off-center strikes.

Overall, the Srixon ZXi driver has addressed previous issues and made significant improvements in both performance and aesthetics. The driver combines a visually appealing design with enhanced performance capabilities, making it competitive with the best drivers on the market. Available at $549/£549, the ZXi is offered in a variety of custom shaft and grip options, with a Fujikura Ventus TR Blue 6 shaft and Golf Pride Tour Velvet 360 grip as stock options. Srixon’s commitment to producing high-quality products like the ZXi driver is sure to elevate their reputation in the industry and put them on par with larger manufacturers.
