Justin Thomas recently acquired a new Scotty Cameron putter, with the help of Paul Vizanko, the Director of Scotty Cameron Putter Fitting and Player Development. Thomas, who is currently ranked 159th in Strokes Gained: Putting on the PGA TOUR, was in need of a change in his putting game. After discussing his thoughts and feelings with Vizanko, it was suggested that Thomas try out a custom putter build that had been previously made for Gordon Sargent.

Gordon Sargent, the No. 1-ranked Men’s amateur golfer in the world, had a custom Cameron putter that Thomas was interested in trying out. Sargent, a college student at Vanderbilt University, has already competed in several PGA TOUR events and won the 2022 Men’s Division I Individual Championship. Thomas reached out to Sargent prior to the Memorial tournament, looking for a solution to his putting struggles.

Since Sargent and Thomas live close to each other in Alabama, they were able to meet up at a local gas station to make the hand-off of the putter. Thomas expressed his gratitude towards Sargent for allowing him to use the putter, stating that they had gotten to know each other in recent years. The transfer of the putter between the two golfers was a collaborative effort to improve Thomas’ performance on the greens.

For more information on how Thomas acquired the new putter and details on the hand-off between him and Sargent, readers are encouraged to visit PGATour.com for the full article. Additionally, GolfWRX.com has an exclusive interview with Thomas where he discusses the process of receiving the putter from Sargent and his thoughts on using it in upcoming tournaments. More photos of Justin Thomas’ new putter can also be found in online forums for golf enthusiasts to view.

Overall, the collaboration between Justin Thomas and Gordon Sargent showcases the camaraderie and support within the golfing community. As Thomas looks to improve his putting performance on the PGA TOUR, the acquisition of the custom Cameron putter from Sargent may prove to be a turning point in his game. The partnership between the two talented golfers highlights the shared passion and dedication to the sport, demonstrating the impact that mentorship and support can have on an athlete’s career.
