Tyrrell Hatton’s remarkable performance at the Old Course at St Andrews put him in the lead after the third round of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship. With a record-equalling 61, Hatton tied Ross Fisher’s course record and continued his dominance in the tournament where he has previously won in 2016 and 2017. Alongside his father Jeff, Hatton also leads the Team Championship with a three-shot lead at -38, as they aim to replicate Matt Fitzpatrick’s double victory from the previous season.

Overnight co-leader Nicolas Colsaerts put on a spectacular show by shooting a 65 at Kingsbarns Golf Links, featuring a memorable albatross that propelled him to second place, just one stroke behind Hatton. Despite starting the day three shots off the lead, Hatton made an impressive comeback on the front nine to catch up with the leaders. However, Colsaerts took a commanding lead with an albatross and a birdie, opening the opportunity for Hatton to close the gap with an impressive run of birdies.

Hatton’s stunning finish included back-to-back birdies on the 17th and 18th holes, propelling him into the lead and tying him with Ross Fisher in the history books. The highlight of the day came from Colsaerts with his remarkable albatross from 223 yards at Kingsbarns’ 16th hole. With a career-low score of 61, Hatton expressed his excitement and determination to give his best in the final round at St Andrews.

Frenchman Tom Vaillant sits in third place after a solid round at Kingsbarns, while Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen impressed with a remarkable 61 at Kingsbarns, firing 12 birdies after a bogey on the first hole. Hatton reflected on his round, emphasizing his focus on making birdies on each hole and his excitement to give his best in the upcoming final round.

As Hatton gears up to potentially become the first three-time winner of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, the competition is fierce with players like Colsaerts and Vaillant hot on his trail. With the Team Championship also in sight, Hatton and his father Jeff have a three-shot lead and the opportunity to clinch a double victory similar to Matt Fitzpatrick’s achievement from the previous year. The final round at St Andrews promises to be an exciting showdown with top players showcasing their skills on the iconic course.

Hatton’s exceptional performance and love for the unique tournament at St Andrews have cemented his status as a contender for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship title. With a combination of skill, determination, and focus, Hatton has positioned himself as a formidable force in the competition. As the final round approaches, all eyes will be on Hatton and his competitors as they battle it out for the prestigious title and the chance to etch their names in the history books of the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.
