Callaway has recently launched their newest Opus wedges, which combine modern technology with classic looks. These wedges have been in development for years, with input from the world’s best golfers and countless iterations. They are set to arrive at retail starting July 26, 2024, with a starting price of $180. The Opus wedges have already proven to be successful on the PGA Tour, with wins at two major tournaments and other victories by top players.

The key technology in the Opus wedges is the Spin Gen face technology, which enhances spin through a combination of tighter pitch grooves, offset groove-in-groove design with angled micro features, and an aggressive face blast texture created with quartz blasting material. These components work together to provide exceptional spin and grip on the golf ball, especially on partial shots hit at slower speeds.

In terms of shaping and grinds, Callaway worked closely with tour players to design the Opus wedges for optimal performance. They feature a higher toe profile, specific radii through the lofts, a slimmed-down topline to hosel transition, and four redesigned sole grinds. These enhancements help the wedges sit closer to the ground on open-face shots and improve speed through the turf.

In addition to the Opus wedges, Callaway is also launching the Opus Platinum wedges, made through metal injection molding (MIM) for precision manufacturing. These wedges feature 17 grams of tungsten bonded to the back of the topline to raise the center of gravity and improve launch and control spin into greens. The Opus Platinum wedges come in lofts from 54 to 60 degrees and offer another level of technology and performance.

The Callaway Opus wedges will be available at retail starting July 26th, priced at $180 each. They come in a brushed chrome or black shadow finish, with a fully raw version available through Callaway Custom. The stock shaft options include the True Temper Dynamic Gold MID 115g for steel and the UST Recoil DART HDC shaft 65g for graphite. The Callaway Opus Platinum wedges will be available starting August 16th, priced at $230 each, and come in a chrome or blue finish with the True Temper Dynamic Gold MID 115g steel shaft.

Overall, the Callaway Opus wedges are designed to provide golfers with the ultimate combination of technology, performance, and aesthetics. With input from top players and innovative features like Spin Gen face technology and MIM manufacturing, these wedges offer exceptional spin, control, and feel for players looking to improve their short game. Whether you’re a professional golfer or a weekend warrior, the Callaway Opus wedges are a top choice for enhancing your wedge play and scoring potential on the course.
