Jiyai Shin took the lead on day three of the AIG Women’s Open at St Andrews with an impressive five-under 67, bringing her total score to seven-under-par. The Korean golfer, who previously won this tournament in 2008 and 2012, started strong with consecutive birdies on the first two holes but then dropped a shot on the third. She went on to score three more birdies on holes seven, eight, and nine, as well as another on the 12th hole. Despite a bogey on the 14th, Shin finished strong with a final birdie on the 17th to secure her position at the top of the leaderboard.

Defending champion Lilia Vu sits in second place, just one shot behind Shin, after carding a 71 with five birdies, one double bogey, and two bogeys. World number one Nelly Korda, who had led at the halfway stage, struggled on day three with a three-over 75, dropping her to third place at five-under-par. Despite a challenging round, Korda remains optimistic going into the final day of the tournament, aiming to maintain a positive attitude and build on the momentum from her strong performance in the previous rounds.

New Zealand’s Lydia Ko and Korea’s Jenny Shin are tied for fourth place, one shot behind the leaders, while four players are in a tie for sixth place at three-under-par. Six players are further back in a tie for tenth place, including Esther Henseleit, Albane Valenzuela, Charley Hull, and Casandra Alexander.
