Former Olympic medal-winning 400-metre hurdler reveals his passion for traveling and golf in a recent interview. He shares that his first holiday memory was a day trip to Great Yarmouth as a child, and since then, he always makes sure to bring his toothbrush wherever he goes. His most recent holiday was to Tenerife for a golfing trip, showcasing his love for the sport. Despite his busy schedule, he always finds time to travel and explore new places.

When asked about his favorite golf course in the world, he mentions Royal Westmoreland in Barbados. However, his ideal traveling golf partners remain unnamed. He recalls his best ever round at Aldenham Golf & Country Club in Hertfordshire, where he shot an 82 and hopes to break 80 in the future. His favorite golf resort is La Manga, citing the superb courses, great weather, and fantastic facilities for families. It seems like the perfect place for a golfing getaway.

Reflecting on his travels, he mentions staying at The Palazzo San Domenico in Sicily as his best hotel experience. The converted monastery offered a luxurious and secluded retreat, with impeccable service that made him feel like royalty. His favorite city in the world is London, where he witnessed the incredible atmosphere of the 2012 Olympics. Despite not competing, he was in awe of the event and the city’s vibrancy.

When it comes to memorable meals abroad, he fondly recalls a BBQ on a yacht off Bondi Beach in Australia. The experience of enjoying delicious food with a stunning view left a lasting impression on him. However, airports remain a source of frustration for him, as he dislikes the hustle and bustle of travel hubs. He also recounts a camping trip in his youth with the Cubs, where constant rain dampened his spirits and made it a less than ideal holiday.

His top travel tip for fellow travelers is to immerse yourself in the local culture and engage with the locals as much as possible. This approach allows for a richer and more authentic travel experience, giving insight into the destination’s customs and traditions. Overall, his passion for travel, golf, and exploration shines through in his anecdotes and reflections on past holidays, showcasing a love for adventure and new experiences.
