The Arnold Palmer Invitational took place on Saturday, with tough conditions on the course. Shane Lowry battled Bay Hill but ended up falling behind on the leaderboard. Many players struggled with the challenging conditions, including rough that was four inches high, tricky fairways, and fast and firm putting greens. The speed and rigidity of the greens made it difficult for players to make putts, with some struggling to even keep the ball near the hole.

Collin Morikawa was one of the few players who managed to navigate the difficult conditions, finishing the day with a score of -10. Other players, like Lowry and Rory McIlroy, saw their scores suffer as they fell from contention. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler and Wyndham Clark also struggled on the course, with their tournament chances fading away as the day went on. The challenging conditions at the Arnold Palmer Invitational made it one of the toughest tests of the PGA Tour season.

The greens at Bay Hill were described as “glassy” and “crusty” by players, with some even questioning whether one of the greens was dead. Despite the tough conditions, players were preparing for an even stiffer test on Sunday, with the wind expected to pick up as the leaders closed in on the final round. Collin Morikawa, hoping to end a winless streak and add to his PGA Tour resume, faces a daunting task on Sunday. With the course expected to deteriorate even further, players are bracing for a challenging final round.

The prevailing sense among players is that the greens at Bay Hill are causing larger issues than just tough conditions. Some players expressed concerns about the state of the greens, with one player even suggesting that one green may be dead. As players prepare for the final round, they are hoping that the course can hold up under the added challenge of the wind. The question on everyone’s mind is whether the already tough conditions at the Arnold Palmer Invitational will worsen on Sunday.

James Colgan, a news and features editor at GOLF, provided insights into the challenging conditions at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. Players like Shane Lowry and Collin Morikawa faced a tough battle on Saturday, with the conditions at Bay Hill proving to be a formidable challenge. As players look ahead to the final round, they are bracing for even tougher conditions, with the wind expected to pick up. The Arnold Palmer Invitational promises to be a test of skill and perseverance for the players as they navigate the difficult course.
