As a result, all LIV Golf players are now eligible to compete in the PGA Championship, and American players who qualify for the Ryder Cup through points or captain’s picks are also eligible. While no LIV Golf players were explicitly banned from competing in the PGA Championship or the U.S. Ryder Cup team in recent years, they were given a grace period to adjust to the new rules. In fact, Joaquin Niemann received a special invitation to the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla after his strong performance earlier in the season. However, without LIV events offering world ranking points, it may be challenging for many players to qualify for these events or make the Ryder Cup team.
Despite the inclusion of LIV Golf players in these tournaments, the qualification process will remain unchanged. Players will still need to earn their spot through their performance and rankings.
