Leona Maguire made history as the first Irishwoman to win on the Ladies European Tour after securing victory with a stunning eagle on the final hole of the Aramco Team Series. Leading from the first day in the individual competition, Maguire finished with a total of eight-under-par at Centurion Club in Hertfordshire. After a challenging final day, Maguire needed an eagle on the last hole to clinch the win, which she accomplished with a five-foot putt. Her caddie’s words of encouragement and trusty hybrids played a crucial role in her victory.

Despite tough competition, Maguire remained patient and focused, knowing she needed to reach 10-under-par to secure the win. Her eagle putt on the final hole was a proud moment not only for herself but also for her family and Ireland. Following her triumph, Maguire expressed gratitude and excitement for the upcoming summer season, highlighting her successful start to the year. Spain’s Maria Hernandez finished in second place, while Ireland’s Lauren Walsh, America’s Alison Lee, and England’s Georgia Hall shared third place at six-under-par.

In the team event, Team Nadaud emerged victorious over Team Hall after a dramatic playoff. Captains Nastasia Nadaud and Georgia Hall battled it out in a three-hole playoff, with Nadaud ultimately securing the win for her team. The tense competition and incredible play by both players captivated spectators and fellow team members, showcasing the talent and skill on display. Kristyna Napoleaova, a winning captain from the previous year, commended the teams’ performance and the excitement of the playoff.

The teamwork and camaraderie displayed during the event were evident as players and amateurs alike celebrated the competitive spirit and sportsmanship on display. Amateur George Brooksbank praised Nadaud’s putting skills and expressed his confidence in her abilities throughout the playoff. The thrilling conclusion of the team event added to the excitement of the tournament, highlighting the talent and determination of the players involved. Overall, the Aramco Team Series at Centurion Club was a memorable and historic event for Leona Maguire and the competing teams.
