Despite a broken toe, South African golfer Ashleigh Buhai managed to make it to the weekend of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She injured her left pinky toe after nicking it on the bed at 4:30 a.m. on Thursday but decided to push through the pain. Buhai, the 2022 AIG Women’s British Open champion, is currently tied for 55th at the championship.

After injuring her toe, Buhai sought treatment from a physiotherapist who taped it up. Despite the discomfort, she continued to play and participate in the championship. Following the round, she had X-rays done which confirmed a broken toe. Doctors advised her to strap it up and let it heal naturally, although walking around the golf course was not helping the healing process.

Buhai mentioned that walking has become a bit easier since the injury, but putting pressure on the foot while hitting the golf ball is still challenging. Despite the setback, she is determined to finish the tournament and give her best performance. Buhai plans to take some time off after the championship to allow her toe to heal before heading to France for the Amundi Evian Championship.

The perseverance and determination shown by Buhai despite the injury have impressed fans and fellow athletes alike. Many have praised her strength and resilience in continuing to compete at a high level despite the pain and discomfort. Buhai’s dedication to her sport and commitment to pushing through adversity are qualities that make her a role model for aspiring golfers.

Injuries are common in sports, and professional athletes often have to deal with various physical ailments throughout their careers. Buhai’s broken toe serves as a reminder of the physical demands of golf and the importance of mental strength in overcoming obstacles. Her ability to adapt and adjust her game to accommodate the injury showcases her versatility and skill as a professional golfer.

As Buhai continues to compete in the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship and prepares for upcoming tournaments, her fans eagerly await her return to peak performance. With proper rest and rehabilitation, she is expected to recover from her injury and resume her impressive form on the golf course. Buhai’s determination to succeed despite adversity is a testament to her passion for the sport and her unwavering dedication to achieving her goals.
