Major Restoration Planned for Teeth of the Dog Golf Course

Casa de Campo’s iconic golf course, Teeth of the Dog, known as the top course in the Caribbean and one of the best in the world, is set to undergo a major restoration starting in January 2025. Designed by legendary architect Pete Dye and opened in 1971, the course will be closed to the public throughout 2025 for a comprehensive renovation led by the acclaimed Jerry Pate Design team. The project aims to modernize the course while preserving Dye’s distinctive design, which includes seven stunning seaside holes along the Dominican Republic coastline known as the “Heaven 7.”

The restoration will involve a complete re-grassing with Dynasty Paspalum, a resilient grass well-suited to the seaside climate, as well as enhancements to tees, fairways, and greens. Improvements to paths, bunkers, and contours will also be made to ensure the course remains both challenging and visually stunning for years to come. The extensive renovation project aims to revitalize the course, enhance its playability, and maintain its aesthetic appeal for modern golfers while staying true to Pete Dye’s original vision.

“The Teeth of the Dog holds a special place in the hearts of golfers around the world,” said a Casa de Campo spokesperson. “We’re thrilled to see this legendary course reach new heights under Jerry Pate Design’s guidance, and we’re confident it will continue to inspire awe and admiration.” Despite the closure of Teeth of the Dog, golfers visiting Casa de Campo will still have access to two exceptional alternatives: Dye Fore and The Links. Dye Fore, often called “the most underrated course in the Caribbean,” features 27 holes across rugged terrain, cliffside fairways, and panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea.

The Links offers a more traditional golf experience with rolling hills, lagoons, and challenging bunkers suitable for all skill levels. The revitalized Teeth of the Dog course is scheduled to reopen in December 2025, and anticipation is already building among golfers worldwide. Casa de Campo is confident that the renovations to Teeth of the Dog will set a new benchmark for golf in the Caribbean, attracting players eager to experience this legendary course once again. With its breathtaking views and unique challenges, Teeth of the Dog is sure to continue drawing avid golfers for years to come.
