The LIV Golf League has announced Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton, Texas as the site for its season-ending $50 million LIV Golf Team Championship in 2024. This Dallas-Fort Worth-area course, designed by Steve Smyers and opened in 2017, has hosted top level amateur events in the past, including the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball. The course owner, Albert Huddleston, previously hosted tour pros for two 54-hole tournaments during the COVID shutdown in 2020, won by Scottie Scheffler and Brandon Wu.

LIV Golf CEO Greg Norman expressed excitement about the upcoming championship, highlighting the rich golf tradition of the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The LIV Golf Team Championship will take place from September 20-22, utilizing a knockout format that includes a mix of team stroke play and match play. All 13 LIV teams will compete, with the top three receiving first-round byes and automatically qualifying for the semifinals on Saturday.

The remaining 10 teams will participate in quarterfinal matches on Friday, with matchups determined by a live drawing of team captains during tournament week. The five winners from the quarterfinals will advance to the semifinals, followed by the semifinal winners competing for the team title on Sunday. The winning team will take home a $14 million prize. In the previous year, Crushers Golf Club emerged victorious with Bryson DeChambeau, Paul Casey, Charles Howell III, and Anirban Lahiri leading the team.

The current standings for 2024 see Crushers Golf Club in the lead, followed by Legion XIII captained by Jon Rahm and Ripper Golf Club led by Cameron Smith. This will be the third season using the knockout format, after previous editions held at Trump National Doral in Miami. The LIV Golf Team Championship continues to be a highly anticipated event among players and fans, showcasing top talent in a unique team-based competition format.

With Maridoe Golf Club as the chosen venue, players and spectators can expect a challenging and exciting championship experience. The course’s 7,817 yards layout and rich history of hosting prestigious events make it a fitting location for the season-ending tournament. As the league continues to grow and attract top talent, the LIV Golf Team Championship remains a key highlight on the golfing calendar, offering both competitive action and substantial prize money for the participating teams.
