Xander Schauffele is a dominant golfer known for his exceptional all-around game, with few weaknesses in his performance. His success has been evident in his recent major wins, including the PGA Championship and the Open Championship in 2024, after a streak of winless major starts. Schauffele shared his five key swing tips with GOLF Magazine in 2018, emphasizing the importance of consistency in driving, iron play, chipping, putting, and scoring.

Starting with driving, Schauffele emphasizes the importance of correct fundamentals, specifically focusing on stance and alignment. By using an alignment stick to maintain consistent distance from the ball, players can improve their contact and increase their chances of hitting the sweet spot. This simple practice can help develop muscle memory and improve overall driving performance. Finding the right distance that works for each individual player is essential for success on the course.

In terms of iron play, Schauffele recommends a swing technique known as “L to L,” which involves stopping the backswing when the left arm reaches parallel with the ground. This controlled swing length can prevent over-swinging and reduce the risk of errors on the course. By maintaining the correct L shape throughout the swing, players can ensure a more consistent and accurate iron play, leading to better results on the greens.

For chipping, Schauffele focuses on chest rotation instead of relying on wrist action. By rotating the chest back and through the swing, players can eliminate wrist-dominant movements and achieve smoother contact with the ball. This technique helps maintain consistency in short-game shots, regardless of the lie or position on the course. By keeping the focus on chest rotation, players can improve their chipping and pitching motions.

In putting, Schauffele stresses the importance of setting up with eyes directly over the ball. This alignment ensures proper hand-eye coordination and allows players to visualize the correct path for their putt. By positioning the eyes over the ball, players can enhance their feel for the putt and make more accurate strokes. This simple adjustment can improve putting performance and lead to better results on the greens.

When it comes to scoring, Schauffele advises players to stay focused on their game and avoid chasing risky shots. By remaining calm and collected during critical moments, players can make smart decisions that lead to lower scores. Taking a deep breath and visualizing successful shots can help build confidence and improve overall performance on the course. By following these key tips from Xander Schauffele, players of all levels can enhance their consistency and efficiency in all aspects of their game.
